Canada, Lemonade, and The Monopoly on Money
Revisiting a few of my older articles, some much needed self-reflection, and proof once again that the draconian measures in Canada have always been about control.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Canada lately and the financial weaponization taking place in that country. I’ve obviously written about it here a couple of times and there are other writers who I follow that have done the same. What I’ve found interesting is people are acting as if this hasn’t happened in America yet when it absolutely has. Yesterday, Glenn Greenwald shared a great article only with his paid subscribers where he detailed how the US did the exact same thing to Julian Assange and Wikileaks. Though I won’t share quotes from his paywalled content, his Rumble video yesterday about the topic makes all of the same points. It got me thinking about something I wrote on the 4th of July last year. Since this Substack is a mirror of my website and I didn’t launch the Stack until late last year, I’d wager most of you have not read The Illusion of Freedom:
In that article I made the case that it might actually be time that is real freedom as opposed to money. Though the link between the two is pretty clear. The problem right now is that the federal government currently has a monopoly on money. That has not always been the case:
When dollars were backed by Gold, we had more fragmentation with bank notes. Because it was Gold that was actually money. The paper note was a debt obligation. Much like a laundry ticket that you would use to get your shirts back from a laundromat. Hard backing or not, I believe money is going to return to a more fragmented reality again. Probably a lot sooner than people realize. Ray Dalio agrees:
I think we're entering an era where there's going to be a competition of monies. Because of the printing of fiat money and the depreciated value. There will be a competition of money and Bitcoin is part of that competition but there will be many monies.
While some have unexpectedly taken a very defeatist perspective on the events unfolding in Canada (cough Doomberg cough), it’s important to remember; you don’t have to just accept this as normal if you don’t agree with what is happening. You can take steps to insulate yourself from financial oppression. Beyond that, we need to start thinking about what we want our future governance to look like. This is what I wrote in May 2020:
We’ve allowed lobbying, cronyism, regulations and licensing to run completely rampant. Simply put, the government is far too involved in transactions between consenting adults. But it doesn’t just stop with grown people. You may not even be allowed to teach your kids how to start a basic business without breaking the law.
The whole thing is worth a read, IMHO:
To my fellow writers, I think it’s important to go back and read your thoughts from months and years prior. Does the way you felt at the time still check out? I actually re-read Luther, Lemonade, and the Concept of Liberty last year and was surprised by how okay I was with lockdowns in May 2020. If I’m being honest with myself it’s probably because I was very much a member of “the zoom class.” March and April 2020 were horribly stressful. But after daycares were allowed to reopen, my company kept people remote. I got to work from home in my living room with a hoodie on. I was more productive because I didn’t have to deal with computer illiterate coworkers asking me questions I’d already answered 40 times.
I loved working from home. Because of that, it was easy for me to overlook the fact that what was happening to most people was incredibly messed up. Those who didn’t have the luxury of working remote because they were essential (like truck drivers) were considered heroes. Now those who oppose mandate policies in place of personal liberty are being framed as villains (like truck drivers). And those “villains” are being oppressed financially by a wannabe king who has pushed the self-destruct button on his time in power. You don’t have to agree with protestor politics to be deeply disturbed by financial service weaponization.
We need to stop viewing our political opponents as pawns in a game that we desperately want to win. One of the biggest problems I see in society right now is a complete lack of empathy and compassion for people who don’t think or behave exactly the way we might want them to. We are all humans. We all have faults. What are political points worth? How far do we want to take it? If you disagree with any protester, what would you like to do about it? Kill them? Because that’s essentially what baby Castro is doing.
None of this ends well if we don’t speak up now. There can be little doubt that the United States government is going to start doing this to dissenters very soon. And this is largely what the grand plan has been for Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC) all along. I highlighted what CBDCs give the government the power to do in How The “Experiment” Ends.
And to believe the talking point that the federal reserve is independent from the federal government is to believe in wizards and witchcraft. Without the central bank monetizing deficits, the US government would be in serious trouble. The acting Treasury Secretary was the Fed Chair before the current one. Let’s get serious here. They are one in the same. Central bank money is government control. CBDCs open up a de facto social credit score. You could argue Canadians now have one since the Ottawa protest has largely been broken up yet baby Castro is keeping the Emergencies Act active:
Even though things seem to be resolving very well in Ottawa, this state of emergency is not over.
Really?
Interesting. To recap: the border blockade is over. Ottawa protestors have been choked off financially, arrested, and denied bail. Literally the main catalysts for invoking the Emergencies Act are over. But baby Castro is keeping the act invoked. Why? This whole thing has been about control the entire time. You know it. I know it. They know it. They’re not even trying to hide it anymore. They want the power to do as they please and silence any critics by any means necessary. I don’t think it's difficult to predict how this is going to end in Canada.
The point of this whole diatribe can really be summed up this way; understand what is happening. Take the necessary steps to defend yourself financially. If the banking industry is going to be used as a weapon, make sure that weapon does as little damage to you as possible. That means cash, food, crypto, silver, seeds, and a desirable skill. Because if they can use the weapon against people who you think deserve it, eventually they’ll use it against you too. We’re all criminals if you look hard enough.
By the way, I’m now offering 7 day trials for anyone who might want to consider going paid. You can check out what is behind the paywall first if you like. Also, don’t forget to like, comment, and share if you’re enjoying the work. It is very helpful, believe me. Even though Facebook says I’m “misinformation,” don’t be afraid to share this stuff with your friends. Especially if they disagree. We need to normalize healthy discussion not the censorship of ideas. And no, I’m not joking about being labeled “misinformation.” Whatever the hell that means these days. But let’s be honest, it’s a badge of honor at this point.
