Is there really people out there who would pay for Facebook or Instagram? Amazing.

Again the 2 are not parallel as in previous post.

When voting system starts it's not wallets it's will be based on minting. Proof of contribution over time. Wallets aren't going to buy influence.

That can happen with Bitcoin as well. The price manipulation.

Yes Cal main Dev on the core. Others on the UI.

We are debating a system vs a social media platform though so not even apples to apples.

"Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter, endorses and financially supported the development of Nostr." We all trust Jack right?

I'm not even really sure what we're debating at this point. Which is the system and which is the platform? You can access Nostr with dozens of different clients from a web-browser, android or iOS. Donating Bitcoin to help the development of an open source network isn't the same thing as being founder/CEO of a walled garden. To be clear, I'm not arguing for or against Nostr. I don't even have a presence on it. But if you want me to say Nostr isn't decentralized but Qortal is, we're just not going to agree haha - and that's totally fine btw.

Not sure how u can use these words together!!

"censorship-resistant", "decentralized network", AND "pick and choose"

You need to tell Mike to check out

Qortal.org

so he doesn't have to cobble together different pieces to make it a whole Pie!!

Luc, why should a relay have to host something they don’t want to host? That’s force not free. Since the relays are actually decentralized, the user can find a different relay for hosting if there’s an issue. And I’ve looked at Qortal. It seems centralized. What happens if Cal stops working on the project? Furthermore, the top 100 wallets own over 53% of QORT.

Then it's not decentralized. "Can find" isn't very confident. Have to go back to the post and read it again.

Yes, Cal is the main developer but now there are others in the Dev meetings working on things.

How much money does anyone need to get involved in Qortal? Right, they need time.

Those top 100 wallets have no more "power" than any other wallets. Off hand I don't know how many wallets there are at this time. Thousands?

How is it centralized?

Also, there’s a repository for Nostr relays. Finding a different relay to deal with is as simple as picking a puplic key and sending a message

It’s centralized because you have a handful of contributors who are doing everything to further the project. Look at github. Cal is it. Very few contributors over the last two years. Qortal may be building for decentralization and may WANT to be decentralized. But as currently constructed its highly debatable if the network truly IS decentralized. And just a quick point on the control of token supply; the more that is controlled by a small group of people, the greater the likelihood for price manipulation. Would it not suck devoting thousands of hours to earn something just to have a handful of people nuke the value of it when they want out?
