And the PSA graded cards are in. Let's just say I'll probably never be doing this again. How bad my grading forecast was and what my key takeaways are going forward.
Honestly, I'm dumbfounded. I didn't detail my prep in the article, but I read the grading guidelines supplied by PSA and tried to be very diligent about only selecting cards that I thought would grade highly. When I saw the Kobe got an 8 but the Duncan got a 9 I was irritated. When I saw the Shaq got a 3 it kinda eliminated all confidence in the entire process in my view. VERY disappointing. I was an absolute MAD MAN about card collecting when I was younger. Look at this:
Two Kobe RCs. Card on the left has corners that are nearly perfect IMHO. No clear surface issues on either. Card on the right has a ding on the bottom right corner and a edging issue near the middle of the top above his cap. Both are 8's somehow.
Those some nice lookin cards from where I'm sitting. I love sports card collecting. What a disappointing experience with PSA, on so many levels.
